Loved the final photo.

I know little about Taylor Swift. Haven’t heard any of her music in 15-20 years since she was “country.” But I loved the article’s light-hearted tone.

As an Xer without Zoomer kids, not a one have I heard. I am in the digital line for Rush tickets next week, however. Rush is in Taylor Swift sales territory, with a female virtuoso taking NP’s place behind the kit-four nights in NYC, Chicago, LA. That’s the music news for us this week.

You nailed it with this one, Peachy. Like you, I was never a hardcore Swifty, but did enjoy a few of the older songs from Taylor’s catalog (I did have “1989,” and “reputation.” Those were the only two albums that had anything catchy to me). Once she decided to go political however, that’s when I tuned out. But I figured since she’d finally found her soul mate, “Showgirl” would be a return to the “1989”-type of fun.

Well, nope.

Even one of my coworkers, who went to see her Eras concert, was uncomfortable in her description of the album: “Not exactly kid-friendly.”

It doesn’t sound as dialed-in as the last one, but it it definitely is crass and trashy.

My granddaughters are great fans but not swifties. I wonder if they will get the degradation described here? I won’t tell. They will probably realize that the music has lost its instant like-ability. I cannot unsee that last picture. Taylor in 30 years.

I bought one Katy Perry album well over ten years ago. That was plenty. Thankfully I was never tempted to buy TS, with no regrets. I literally tossed the Perry disc after "she kissed a girl". It's all so trite and a distraction.

Not that I would have downloaded it anyway, but thanks for the play-by-play of their sex life.

This album seems part of the ubiquitous effort to push sexual content on children. Certainly not appropriate for my 6 year granddaughter (who idolizes TS) to consume.

Six? She's listening to TS at six? Boy I need to catch up with the world. I had no clue kids that young were pop music followers. I didn't even think her crap was music I thought it was the loop that plays endlessly in malls or in elevators. Try to get your six year old into music lessons, really improves their taste and understanding of real music. My sons all took piano lessons for 8 years each. Improved their math skills and I didn't have to suffer thru years of bad pop/rock music playing in the house or the car.

I'm with you. BTW, leftie fems are losing it over the basketball hoop in the driveway, and her wanting to "settle down". I've seen a breakdown of a bunch of tictocks that are Hilarious.

TS has betrayed us!!!!

I did give a listen out of curiosity. I think you've hit the nail on the "head" with her writing this album for him. She does have a way with words.

I read a more encouraging review elsewhere that suggested she was edging away from pouting narcissism and victim mentality and toward something like traditional values including respect for marriage and suburban life, but there's nothing "traditional" about her album photos. Some of my granddaughters are fans, so I'll keep an eye out.

I'll take exception to that...

Whose tradition? Victorian - or 1950's... You might have a point.

But "traditionally" there is long precedent for this kind of stuff. HOWEVER it needs to be seen that the traditional audience for that is horny males. This is aimed at teenage and younger girls...

The former involved providing a kind of satisfaction to the audience. The latter is teaching... Teaching girls to be whores.

And causing them mental issues... While it is likely you don't see Taylor-class ass in a tittybar (don't know never been to one) it is more certain the average girl isn't going to be able to doll-up and be Taylor-class ass. So that has to produce a lot of mental issues...

And considering that half of self-identified "liberal" girls are batshit crazy (according to their own shrinks) maybe this isn't the best thing for them to be following?

Well, that's what you thought you said. But, lighten up, it's just a joke that we old Geezers can enjoy. We have few enough pleasures left in the Old Folks Home, please don't take away our giggles.

I personally think it’s all media hype. I watched an Apple Music podcast hosted by Zane Lowe. Dude was gushing over the cover art as if it were a painting by Rembrandt. And now that I think about it, she did come across as rather narcissistic in parts of the interview. Only the truly tone deaf will find her music substantive.
