After my year long dalliance with Substack, the multiple subscriptions, the hand wringing, the comments, yours is the only one I haven't cancelled/blocked/unsubscribed to, and the only one I look forward to showing up in an email that's always a breath of fresh air.
Why don't we, having shown the MOP, leave it be with having Made Our Point. To actually use it would be a dick move. I thought we were going to be working on Making America Great Again and Healthy Again. No more forever wars they said, Save our economy they said. Reshore our manufacturing as ELon Musk just signed on to build a immense battery factory - in China. Chasing the Brics Bucks I guess. The Tech Bros know no allegiance to country or culture. They show it again and again. At this point, if we are going to MOP up something it should be the Deep State. That is proving to be much better dug in than any Iranian nuclear material processors.
You need to get out of California. The insanity you describe does not exist where we live. In fact we still live like the true America. Most of the country is fine. Just a hint. We are also on the west coast but we aren't in Seattle or Portland. The real America is alive and well. Get you and your family out of hell. I did business in California since last century and it was hell then.
Most of the country is indeed fine. So is most of California. For the same reason you think otherwise, we who live in the nice regions of CA think Oregon and Washington are to be avoided at all costs because all we see on the news are the twin disgraces of Portland and Seattle - most of which cities, I suspect, are also perfectly "fine"
I live in Northern Virginia and our "immigrants" haven't bothered to learn English, so we're expected to speak Spanish at the bank or McDonalds or Home Depot. We have been flooded and a now a large part of our populace are still living in their home countries in their minds.
I hate to say it, but Iran getting a nuclear weapon does actually affect us: they have been busily killing Americans since the Shah fled (Beirut, Khobar Towers, our Embassies in Africa, Rich Higgins, the shaped charge IEDs that killed our guys in Iraq, the missiles they fired at our bases recently. etc., etc.). If they become a nuclear power - and they already have nearly the range and accuracy to hit us - don't you think that they'll use it? They already believe that the Mahdi is going to show up if the world burns. And if Iran gets the bomb, won't every other gulf state want one too?
We are in the middle of a never-ending conflict to survive and sitting in our own private bunker will not be a solution.
You're right. Let's let the Ayatollah get a nuke and see what he does with it. He's always been a reasonable fellow in the past. BTW, Shiites just love Catholics.
Totally agree. Unless the Iranian people rise, or the Mullahs completely capitulate, we will need boots on the ground to truly finish this job. No thanks. No more foreign wars. Work on our abundant problems at home.
I am surprised that I still have all my fingers. As a kid I packed cutoff match heads into used CO2 cylinders to make improvised rockets that sometimes exploded when set off. I like to tell my grandkids about how as ten year olds with paper routes my friends and I once rode our bikes to a nearby small airport. We gave a pilot we didn’t know a couple of bucks for gas and he flew us over our homes in a Piper Cub. When I got home and told my mom her response was “that’s nice, get ready for dinner” and that was it.
We lived in a Chicago suburb and would ride the train to the Loop and wander through the big department stores and once ended up on State street south of Van Buren outside a burlesque show hoping to get a peek inside. A friendly doorman waved us in for a free show. That we never mentioned to our folks.
Ah yes - we sure had (dangerous) fun, didn't we? I got larger (as opposed to growing up) in Southern California and we fired homemade rockets (before Estes), built bombs, went on long unauthorized bike rides, went surfing on 9 foot surfboards, and avoided arrest in the process. Fun stuff!
Then we had to ruin the whole thing by joining the Marines and do it all legally..
Keep up the confidence in Trump as the entire Blob War Machine wants to appease their paymasters and lobbyists.
I love Jews and Israel, but it is well known that their leadership will do anything to level their adversaries which means using America to do it: Why do you think they attacked last week without the means to finish it? It is Bibi's history to try to use us.
The two most important people in the world right now are Trump and Putin; do not believe the 'press' about Putin, he is simply protecting his country like Trump is doing.
Peachy, just to be clear, Israel does not the U.S. to bomb Fordow. Israel has weapons that could take it out even more effectively than the MOP. They are called "tactical nukes". Israel simply sees, correctly, that going nuclear would be a PR disaster (among other things) and so they demand we use the only conventional bomb in existence that can do the job. But if Fordow truly were "existential" for Israel they really don't need us to help.
Impossible to know how much underground support Trump has from other states in mid-east. Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan may be signaling it's all systems go but cannot do so publicly? As a lifelong Californian it's horrifying to witness fire victims trying to work through the third-world country bureaucracy just to put their lives back together.
Always a fan but I think you miss the point that the Ayatolla doesn't care if Iran is incinerated if they can first hit Israel with an atomic bomb. These fanatics worship death. Also, when someone states( many times) their intention to kill you, it's best to believe them (I reference the US here and Iran's goal to build an ICBM). Our oceans no longer provide protection. To conclude my hope is that the Israelis can do this without our help via some sort of commando raid aided by Iranian dissidents. But, if not, I still believe we have a responsibility to assist though i understand it's fraught with peril .
It’s time to stop falling victim to foreign propaganda. China, Russia, and Iran thrive on dividing movements like MAGA. While Iran boasts some of the world’s cheapest gas and vast reserves capable of fueling the nation for decades, it continues to pursue nuclear enrichment under the guise of civilian use—a claim that doesn’t align with its energy reality.
Let’s be clear: if Iran succeeds in equipping ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads, the threat is real, and they won’t hesitate to act. The notion of avoiding ground troops while targeting critical facilities like Fordow isn’t about fear—it’s about deterrence. We cannot live in constant anxiety over sleeper cells within our borders. National security demands clarity, not paralysis.
Iran will never have an ICBM. Fifty million Iranian refugees on the loose in Europe is far too high a price for regime change in Iran. Trump had better not f**k this up.
I also voted for what I hoped was a peace president and share your concern that the MIC has done a major glories of war vanity trip on President Trump. And I doubt this is a “one and done” & I took to heart Iran’s pledge of war against every American. I have generally supported Israel, but was trying to decipher for what awful reason they chose to dishonor CS Lewis by calling their operation “Narnia”.
Thanks for this. Great post. Touching (and snark-filled).
JUST watched War Games with my family. It's been a minute. The movie actually holds up. The 7Eleven where he gets picked-up was just a mile or so from our winter church camp. We all recognized it at once (with the McDonald's next door).

Democrats are the real sleeper cells you need to worry about. No more foreign wars.
Well stated

Conservatives with money and land need to stay in California. EXIT is not the only solution.
Fight back is needed!
Amen from the Great Republic of Rough & Ready , CA. We secceeded once and we can do it again
Most of the country is not fine. Most of the country is now inundated with immigrant diversity. It’s now well above half of the United States.
Prayers for all those who perished prematurely and consolation to their families. Requiescat in pace 🙏

I think the point is that boots on the ground won't do anything useful. They haven't since WWII.
Kids are terribly over protected these days.

ICBM development costs trillions. That they’ll have a single one in the next 20 years is ridiculous.
