Please join me for a novena for Our Lady of Victory starting this Friday, October 25th at 12 PM PT and ending Saturday, November 2nd.
What is a Novena?
[from Google AI]
A novena is a nine-day period of prayer in Christianity to ask God for special favors or graces, or to prepare for a liturgical feast or important event:
Origin
The word "novena" comes from the Latin word novem, which means "nine". The tradition is based on the nine days of prayer that Jesus asked his Apostles to do before Pentecost.
When to pray
Novenas are often prayed in times of need or to ask for special favors. They can also be prayed to prepare for a liturgical feast or important event, such as a Year of Jubilee. Many novenas are tied to specific feast days, such as the Novena to the Holy Spirit, which begins on Ascension Thursday.
How to pray
Novenas can be said privately or publicly, and you can repeat the same prayer each day or have a different intention for each day. Some people also add extra practices like fasting or acts of service to deepen their novena experience.
Importance
Novenas are a legitimate part of Catholic spirituality, and the Church grants partial indulgences to those who devoutly participate in public novenas.
Novenas can be started at any time and said for any reason. There are many specific novenas to choose from, to different saints for various purposes.
The Patron Saint of the United States is Mary of course, and this is a wonderful and very old novena for her help in battle against a formidable foe.
A novena for victory against an army seems fitting for our present moment, which is somehow coming down to a few days left to save the west and America, and defend freedom and justice from dark forces threatening to swamp it all, swallowing it up for good.
We really are facing a cataclysmic final crackdown by our soulless, morally bankrupt overlords who despise patriotic Americans and hate devout Christians. It’s hard for me even to believe we are here. What happened? Life in America was genuinely good for a long time. Who did this to us? Crazy that we being forced to free the country—again—from tyrants.
They see us as stubborn obstacles in their path to total power—a bothersome plague to be eradicated.
Electorally at first, of course. Later they’ll resort to other means to break our spirit and our will. Historically, this is all headed in one direction. Humans never change.
Faced with this unthinkable future, I tried to think of what else I, a humble writer, could do besides vote, and post on X, and this is what I came up with.
Novenas are very powerful! Never forget that God is with us and was with our founders at the beginning of their quest.
Good overcomes evil in the end, no matter what.
I will be posting the text of the prayer on X on Friday. Please join me and others to beseech Our Lady to help us stave off defeat in November!
Here is the text if you would like to save it for then:
Prayer to Our Lady of Victory
(Start by making the Sign of the Cross) In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
O Mary, powerful Virgin, thou art the mighty and glorious protector of the Church;
Thou art the marvelous help of Christians,
Thou art terrible as an army in battle array;
Thou alone hast destroyed every heresy in the whole world.
In the midst of our anguish, our struggles and our distress,
Defend us from the power of the enemy and at the hour of our death receive our souls in paradise. Amen.
Our Lady of Victory, we beseech thy intercession before the throne of thy Son, that the powerful and malevolent forces that seek to subjugate us may be peacefully defeated, so we can save this nation for the good of all her people.
If it be for God’s glory and honor and our good.
Amen.

About Our Lady of Victory
This novena has an incredible origin story.
“The Devotion to Our Lady of Victory dates back to the Battle of Lepanto, on October 7, 1571. Lepanto is often called the “battle that saved Europe.” This was a naval battle in the Holy League, a group of European Catholic maritime states organized by Pope Pius V defeated the fleet of the Ottoman Empire on the northern edge of the Gulf of Corinth, off western Greece. The victory was credited to the Virgin Mary, whose intercession whose victory was implored through the use of the Rosary. The Battle of Lepanto became the feast day of Our Lady of Victory (later of Our Lady of the Rosary).”
The victory was the largest naval battle since ancient times and involved more than 450 ships.
The Ottomans, of course, forced thousands of Christian slaves to row on the ships, in utterly horrific conditions. The men were chained to their benches 24/7, forced to defecate where they rowed. Over 30,000 Christian slaves were involved in the Battle and by the end 15,000 were rescued and freed.
Time to Pray
So join me and others on Friday October 25th to recite the Novena together. If you miss it, do it whenever you can. We will do it once a day until the Saturday before the election.
You don’t have to be Catholic to do it! Anyone can pray!
We may need a miracle so let’s get to work.
Thanks for reading—and please tell your friends!

God bless you and your family.
I’m IN, Peechy/All. Is it acceptable to pray the novena in the way you provided if you are not Catholic? Pardon the question, I truly do not know. When I was young, I took communion at a Catholic mass at which I was a guest and I’ve felt bad about doing that since. I’m an old guy now and have many times thought to become baptized in the Catholic Church and become observant. I have not followed through. Thank you for sending this to us, Peachy. I want to do it in the best, most informed, respectful and reverent ways.
